i love deer.

below is a video of a deer. at first cute, turning into horrifying and ending with relief, you are left with a strange and discontent feeling. i cried from fear and sadness, though a crucial lesson was learned. when i approach deer now, i do so with caution. though they are quite fairytale-like, they are still wild creatures. please watch this video.

blogging was never one of them..

i feel like this is the perfect opportunity to hopefully get back into it and possibly keep up. i would love for my blog to be a place for me to talk about my everyday life, but then i realize there's no one that would be interested in what really happens to me. or so i think. for now, i would like to use my blog as a place for me to post photos from shoots whether they are portfolio worthy or not. and maybe, just maybe, i can chat about my every day life a little bit too!

this past weekend, 18 family members, including myself, gathered to celebrate 150 years of birth as well as 25 years of marriage. activities were broad and included hiking up mountains to view the colour changing leaves of fall, amazing museums, driving ranges and golfing, shopping and antiquing, relaxing, swimming and lots and lots and LOTS of eating! in the midst of it all, my cousin and i found plenty of time to have some photo shoots. we both have a love for art, fashion, vintage as a whole and each other. only half of 'em are developed so far. please enjoy them. we had a blast doing them!

200 frames

of brand new 600 film came my way this week. i woke up at 6am to order it, only to realize later that day that there was plenty to still go around and did not need to wake up so early! oh well! it is safe in my fridge and that is all that matters really.

i made a promise to myself to use as many as needed to complete hannah's house and then I can use the rest to complete other series like sunday morning, outlined, naturally, the aquarium.

hope you're looking forward to see what comes of it all like i am..considering it's all going to be very spontaneous and unplanned.

i decided to conquer my fear for 35mm cameras and film. i shot a whole roll in 24 hours of anything and everything just to get it developed in 1 hour to see if i did in fact conquer it or not. i'd say i landed somewhere in the middle. nothing website worthy, but they are perfect memories for my first time. i'm so nostalgic. it's what i like. here are some to share with you.

come with time. First, my polapremium incident is getting resolved by ironic instances on flickr. So thank you to all who have led me to to the right person! Film that I do not like is going back, and SOOO much film I've never tried before is coming to me. Experimenting with film and camera is just as thrilling as going to a place I've never been to before. The mystery and experience of moments from beginning to end makes my blood rush.

Today the sun was shining so bright, as it often does. Today I decided to make today different from the other days that the sun has shined so bright. It was magnificent, and I intend to make the future days that the sun chooses to shine so bright different from the past days that the sun has shined so bright.

Papa gave me his old Flip since he, of course, got the newer model. And I love it! It's exactly what I needed and cannot wait to record so many memories in motion! Everyone should have one! You already carry a cell phone and an ipod, so why not a Flip too? I should be on their ad campaign, ya?

My grandma emailed me a few days ago demanding me to call her re: my photography. I didn't know what to think. So I called her and she requested that I choose a few photos from my mother nature [a new life] series and get them printed for her. She offered money for them, but I basically told her she was insane. I am so flattered.

I also finally am ready to get the photos printed for my mama of her tree after months and months of discussing it every single time I spoke to her or saw her. The woman has passion and persistence. I guess that's where I get mine from.

My website is eating up my life and time since I am doing it completely by myself this time. I really hope it will be worth it in the end and will hear no negative feedback on this one. As of now, this is my new bio:
i live for photographing moments that should be captured forever and never forgotten. vintage films and cameras are my favorite medium. i am not a nature photographer, but love to shoot nature. the same goes for portraits, abandoned architecture, animals and inanimate objects. experimenting with different films, cameras and styled is something that i wish to be known for and never want to stop doing. being restricted to a photographic style or medium is just as frustrating to me as being stuck in one place for a long time. to travel and see as much of the world is the most important thing to accomplish in my life. adventures thrill me. i feel that i should have been born in a different time. old things with stories and a history make me happy. pressing the shutter button, wind in my hair, rain on my skin, music in my ears, amazing food in my mouth, and seeing the world through my eyes and in my imagination reminds me why i am alive. these are a few of my favorite things. and that should include brown paper packages tied up with string.

3. i hate buying broken cameras without knowing they will be broken.
3a. but love when sellers are humane and understanding and refund my money and still let me keep it anyway!!
4. i am completely rebuilding my website to be more user-friendly, mature, accurate to my style, etc. (feel free to lend me any advice or suggestions..I want it to be unique, but I think simple is the way to go. i need to let my art speak for itself rather than the web design, which I really really liked and put so much work into. Oh well, it will always be there as a memory--my first website ever.

I still have to look at this blog in small doses because it is just to much to consume in one sitting. Pictures, links, words, poetry and tales, paintings and drawings fill every pixel of her blog page. I still can't swallow and know what it was exactly. From what I've tasted so far, she is an artist, poet and part nomad-part gypsy. Just scroll down through the photos and see the truck-like hermit shell that she and her boyfriend/husband live in.

I want a handmade home like that--a place to live and say, "we made this!!" I want to wake up after each time I sleep and see a different, new world outside our vintage, refurbished windows. I want to have a special, tiny area inside this home to keep my cameras safe and dry and capture every second of this life from the most perfect angles. And a swing to hold our laptop just above where we sit.

How do I create and maintain this life? Because truth be told, if I have him, my cameras, and the world just outside our door--that is all that i need. Nothing else. Life has never looked so perfect than through this confusing and cluttered blog. It is my dream, and this girl is living it.

As a side note, I must confide that my life is pretty darn dreamlike just as it is, although, I definitely have my many faults and defects that are harming my future. Aside from all of those, and believe me there are too many, my life is perfect. Why? Because I already DO have the 3 things that I mentioned just above --him, my cameras and the world just outside our door.

I need to know though, what does her partner do? Is this his dream, just as it is hers? Another roadblock in understanding and also what may further prevent it from becoming my reality. I must find out.

This life can happen, I just know it. Can't it? With my defects, I am afraid I will be broken forever and never have this life that I want. Forever lost in my wild imagination and forever me.
*note: please understand and remember, this a dream of my own, rather than me trying to live someone else's dream.

what I like to photograph. When I heard this, all I could think was--what is my style? The trouble is, I don't believe I have and nor do I want a style. I love experimenting and never want to stop. I don't want to ever be known for portraits, nature, pets, food, still life or any of that. I want to be known as the girl who never ceases to try new mediums, cameras and styles. Is that bad? I am an ambitious, restless dreamer. It makes me sick most of the time actually. I want to do so much that it gives me anxiety attacks--but that is a whole other topic. One thing I know is that if I ever had a tag line, it would be "they way things are." That is completely open for interpretation. To me it means that what you see in the photograph is exactly as it was in its natural state when I laid my eyes on it, or that it is the way I envisioned it in my wild imagination. is a film that I was privileged to play 3 roles for...artistic director, still photographer and makeup artist!! Not only was it a blood rushing experience, but it actually paid off with something better than money. Thank you so much to Michael N. for convincing me to take on the project, and to Mauricio for creating this piece of art and letting me be a part of it. The film was just included into a fourth festival!!! How exciting is that? And, I am the only one of all the cast and crew have their name in the credits more than once!! The first three festivals were in Spain and the fourth will be here in NYC!!
